SCIENCE & ENGINEERING FAIR....

It is time once again to prepare for the Elementary Science and Engineering Fair.  The fair is open to students in grades K-5. Though participation in this annual event is voluntary, we want to encourage interested students to take advantage of this opportunity to exhibit their knowledge.
If your child is interested in participating please return the Science and Engineering Fair letter to your child’s teacher so you may have a handbook. Our campus fair will be January 9th this year! We look forward to some great entries to represent Christie Elementary!

If you have any questions feel free to email the Science Fair Coordinator at Jessica.Malloy@pisd.edu

November Wellness Calendar....

We hope you and your family are enjoying the monthly wellness calendar as it's filled with activities that the entire family can enjoy.  November is American Diabetes Month.  There isn't a cure yet for diabetes, but a healthy lifestyle can really reduce its impact on your life.  What you do every day makes the difference: eating a healthy diet, being physically active, taking medicines if prescribed, and keeping health care appointments to stay on track.  Below is this month's calendar to help you and your family manage a healthier life.

When you give to our classroom by October 6, 2016, your donation will be doubled thanks to DonorsChoose.org. Just enter the code LIFTOFF during checkout and you'll be matched dollar for dollar (up to $50).

September Fitness Tips....

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Anyone can be affected, including children. Heart disease occurs as a result of the build-up of a substance called plaque in the arteries. Overtime this can cause atherosclerosis, a disease in which the arteries narrow and harden resulting in a reduction of blood flow to the heart. Below is a calendar of activities that can help get you moving when at home or on the go.

Parents each month we will post a monthly calendar related to fitness tips and ideas.  We challenge you to print it each month, post it on your refrigerator, and complete each daily activity together as a family.  Together lets model eating healthy foods and being active even if it's just a walk around the block.
